Blue the Bear

This story starts a long time ago, about thirty years or so. This is the story about a one of a kind bear named Blue and the love of the little boy who he was friends with. Blue was a very unique teddy bear. He was made from some old material that looks and feels like denim. He had a pretty light blue ribbon around his neck and tied like a bow. On his front left chest was a little red felt heart sewn with love. When he was made there were others like him but some did not stand the test of time. Each bear made was from a different material. Elise's Bears are what they were called. Blue's best friend was named Brownie, but Brownie didn't live very long. Blue fell apart many times early in his life. At one time he had a huge hole in his neck and mother sewed it shut several times. Once he even lost his head completely and mother sewed that back on as well. He started to tear at his arm and again he was fixed. Finally his ribbon got so ratty that it frayed and tore and fell right off. For several years his ribbon was never replaced. Blue had gone through so much pain and had so many repairs, but each time he was fixed to be stronger again. The boy who was friends with Blue loved him very much and sometimes still talks to him like a real person. Blue was very fortunate to have such a good friend. When the boy no longer lived with mother he fixed Blue the best he knew how. He sewed Blue and even got him a black bowtie. His little felt heart had ripped and fell off and that even was replaced with a new heart. His tummy had ripped a big hole in the side and the boy even learned a new type of stitch to fix that as well. Blue was a very blessed bear to have such a good friend as the boy was. One day as Blue was sitting on a dresser alone and collecting dust and enjoying himself, the boy came in very excited. The boy picked up Blue in what felt like forever, hugging him and saying something that made Blue very happy. "You are going to have a new friend!" said the boy. This made Blue feel the same way as the boy. He was excited because his friend was excited. What happened next was this. Blue sat on a dresser and watched as the boy moved things around in the room where he sat. He observed the boy move around furniture, lay down a carpet and even paint the walls. The boy then moved in new furniture and a new dresser with a lamp. Blue watched intently but hadn't met the "new friend" yet. He was very confused about that. Will I ever meet my new friend?, He thought. One day while the boy was at work he came home quite suddenly and hurried things into the car. Blue was very excited but the boy never came to get him. Perhaps he forgot Blue and would return to get him soon. As the car pulled out of the driveway a tear fell from Blue's eye. He has forgotten to take me to my new friend. Several days passed and Blue was still very sad. Not only did the boy forget to take Blue with him, he also never came home. Blue was quite sad. One Sunday afternoon Blue could hear the car pull back into the driveway. It was the boy! He had returned! Blue watched as they got out of the car and there was something different about it all. Blue returned to the dresser and waited for the boy. As the boy came in the house, Blue could hear laughter and lots of talking. Then it happened, the boy came into the room where Blue sat and looked at him saying, "Don't worry Blue I didn't forget about you. I have a new friend for you to meet downstairs." The boy picked up Blue from the dresser wear he sat and carried him down into the living room. He got down onto the floor and turned Blue around to meet his new friend. "Blue.." said the boy, "This is your new friend, and his name is Alex."
